René Bühling, phd
Diplom-Informatiker (FH), Diplom-Designer (FH), Master of Science, Master of Arts.
I am author, software developer and designer for entertainment software and computer games. A particular focus is on combination of aesthetic design and technology.
Vita and Experience
After my two media-oriented diplomas in computer science and media design I gained a MSc degree in Computer Science as well as a MA degree in Game Development. At the same time, I worked for 5 years as a freelancer for various companies and individuals in the field of software and web development. From October 2007 to December 2014 I was teaching 3D design at the University and the University of Applied Sciences in Augsburg, Germany.
From 2009 to 2014, I was employed as a research assistant at the Chair of Human Centered Multimedia, Augsburg University. Beside organization of the lectures “Introduction to 3D Design” and “Character Design” I was supervisor for student projects and theses and worked on international research projects like DynaLearn or IT4SE.
My phd thesis, published in 2015, focuses on the potential of aesthetic visualization concepts in computer science.
Since mid-2015 I am working independently on my own game productions.
Additional academic qualification
With the kind support of my former employer, in 2011 and 2012 I gained experience and expertise on a wide range of educational and didactic aspects of teaching. The course “ProfiLehre”, provided by quality agency of Augsburg University, encompasses a multifaceted catalog of training lessons. By completing a target of 120 lecture units, a Certificate of University Education was finally acquired. The contents of the courses included the following topics: motivation and activation, development of self- and social competences of the students, moderation, presentation, vocal training, design and evaluation of theses and exams, consultancy competences.
